GMS Best Paper Award 2013
The prize was established last year and aims to reward a particularly valuable contribution from the original articles and reviews published within a year in "GMS German Medical Science". The winner is selected by the Scientific Committee of German Medical Science.
On December 10, 2014 Prof. Dr. med. Hans Reinauer, the editor-in-chief of GMS German Medical Science, handed the prize, which is endowed with 500 €, to the winners Prof. Dr. med. Christian Thielscher, Dr. med. Stefan Thielscher and Prof. Dr. Karel Kostev for their work "The risk of developing depression when suffering from neurological diseases". The award-winning article examines the incidence of depression in the wake of neurological diseases (Alzheimer's disease, dementia, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease) and comes to the conclusion that a routine check for depression of all patients with one of the above diseases is recommended.
