GMS Hygiene and Infection Control - new title for the journal of the German Society of Hospital Hygiene
Infection Control issues may only be addressed successfully in a multidisciplinary approach. Based on this principle, the medical journal "GMS Krankenhaushygiene Interdisziplinär" was founded in 2006. Since its early beginning, the journal has published a broad spectrum of infection control topics and content fostering patient safety and quality in healthcare. Since 2008, the journal is PubMed listed. Because of the significant interest in its content, the journal "GMS Krankenhaushygiene Interdisziplinär" has established itself as one of the relevant information platforms for publishing and disseminating infection control issues in central Europe and particularly for the German speaking countries.
Since an increasing number of international research groups are interested to publish their findings and research conclusions in the journal, the initial interdisciplinary character has gradually shifted internationally. This positive development has encouraged the publisher and the editors to make the content more accessible to an international audience. Since 2013, the journal will appear under the new name "GMS Hygiene and Infection Control".
