SRT, a new modality to treat malfunction of the Retinal Pigment-epithelium (RPE) uses repetitive (100 Hz) short) laser pulses (1.7 µs) in the green spectrum (532 nm). The basics of selective thermo-mechanical effects in the RPE including potential cellular and sub-cellular mechanisms will be presented. Clinical results in the treatment of diabetic macula oedema (DME) are being shown and further potential treatment fields will be discussed.
