In the italian proton therapy center for the treatment of the ocular pathologies of the Hospital "G. Rodolico" of the University of Catania, we have treated about 200 patient with a 62 MeV proton beam of a superconductor cyclotron in the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud of the National Insitute of Nuclear Physics.

This kind of treatment needs a radiographyc system to localize the target inside the eye. The target is delimited by 4 tantalium clips. The radiographyc system is able to positioning the treated eye at the isocenter comparing the radiographyc and simulated images created by TPS Eyeplan, beam's eye view of the clips positions.

In March we have digitalized the radiographyc system replacing the system with Polaroid T54 films with two flat panel HAMAMATSU C7921CA-02.

A new software was developed to acquire the digital X-ray images and to overlap the TPS simulated and X-Ray images directly on the PC display.

This new digital system and this new software permits a quicker positioning of the patient with a better precision tanks to the manage of the digital X-ray images.

We are developing an hardware connection between the Italian Digital Imaging Aquisition System (IDIAS) and the automated treatment chair to control the directly from the consolle reducing the dead time of the patien positioning.
