Organ preservation strategy in the cancer of the larynx includes the chemioradiotherapy.
From the surgical point of view this strategy could be understand as a functional surgery with the preservation of some part of the larynx.
During the last 10 years in the University ENT Department in Poznań 1568 different types of larynx surgery due to the cancer has been performed.
We would like to present the group of 171 cases of the cancer of the larynx treated using different types of the functional surgery: the supraglottic laryngectomy, the transglottic surgery modo Sedlacek-Tucker and modo Calearo, the supracricoid laryngectomy with CHEP and CHP. The detailed analysis of this group of patients is discussed.
