Objective

Careful documentation is essential for the assessment of refractive surgical procedures, both in daily practice, for educational purposes and for clinical studies. New procedures like LASIK bring about several specific corneal conditions which have not been described before. Therefore it seems necessary to set up a systematic and standardised scheme for unambiguous and reproduceable documentation of corneal changes after LASIK.

Methods

Standardised symbols in five colours representing specific corneal conditions are used to draw a sketch of front and slit view.

Conclusions

Standardised drawings allow a clear and unambiguous assessment and follow-up of simple and complex corneal conditions.
