Aim

The aim of that paper was to analyze correlations between clinical and radiological assessment of the long term results of the congenital clubfoot treatment.

Material

56 patients (76 feet) treated at the author's institution between 1979 and 1990. The average age at the time of surgery was 12,7 months The average follow-up period was 15,3 years. The average age at the time of follow-up was 16,8 years.

Methods

On the anteroposterior radiograms authors measured: talocalcaneal angle, talocalcaneal divergence, medial or lateral navicular subluxation, talo-metetarsal Ist angle On the lateral radiograms authors measured: talocalcaneal angle, calcaneo-metetarsal Ist angle, position of the navicular to the head of the talus, tibio-calccaneal angle, tibio-talar angle in maximal dorsi- et plantar flexion, talocalcaneal angle in maximal foot dorsiflexion, talocalcaneal index.

Conclusions

Values of talo-calcaneal and talo-metetarsal I-st angles measured on anteroposterior radiograms have good correlation with clinical results. Corresponding parameters measured on lateral radiograms are talocalcaneal index, position of navicular and talocalcaneal angle in maximal foot dorsiflexion.
