Intracerebral multiparameter probes have the potential to optimize neurointensive treatment by offering online insight into various important target parameters such as intracerebral pressure, cerebral perfusion, oxygenation and metabolism. However, these relative new methods are not routinely used in most neuro intensive care units due to limited study evidence and economic considerations. Next to technical and economic considerations market and study overviews are presented to facilitate decision making when using multiparametric neuromonitoring.
