Outline

Text

Objective: The aim of this study is to emphasize the role of surgery in successfully removing of craniopharyngiomas. In our Department we have performed 16 resections for suprasellar location during the last 5 years. Three cases were childhood craniopharyngiomas and one was a huge Rathke's cyst. There has been a complete resection in the 3 childhood craniopharyngiomas with a complete recovery with a single operation.

We have shown these 3 cases and all the surgical problems related to them. We have also shown the different characteristics of the Rathke cyst surgery, its constant tendency to regrowth and the impossibility of a complete radical microsurgical excision.
