Background: Peer reviewed medical journals are important media for the publication of articles relevant to Primary Health Care and General Practice/Family Medicine. They are the means to disseminate original research results and educational information, discuss available evidence and share experiences. However, many colleagues find writing and submitting a scientific paper a challenge.

Target audience: Our intended audience is interested in research or medical writing and wants to improve their writing and submission skills. More experienced authors are welcome to join this workshop to share their experiences

Didactic method: The workshop has the format of a highly interactive session. It focuses on the preparation and submission of research papers. Topics that can be discussed are: basic structure, language and presentation of research papers; common errors; an adequate Abstract; an informative Title; a convincing Cover Letter; dealing with reviewers and editors; choosing the right journal; impact factors; open access journals; authorship; potential conflicts of interest; or other questions you may have.

Objectice: After the workshop, participants will have expanded their knowledge and will have received practical advice (“tips & tricks”) on how to prepare a manuscript for publication in a peer-reviewed medical journal.

Number of participants: 10–40?
