About GMS GPRAS
Concept
Today, scientifically sound studies in plastic surgery are of interest to researchers as well as the public. With their e-journal "GMS German Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery" (GMS GPRAS), the Deutsche Gesellschaft der Plastischen, Rekonstruktiven und Ästhetischen Chirurgen (German Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, DGPRÄC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Verbrennungsmedizin (German Burn Association, DGV) recognize and satisfy this demand. New scientific findings, theses and studies in plastic surgery are available fast, freely and on a long-term basis via GMS GPRAS. All published papers have underwent a rigorous and intensive peer review process prior to publication.
Experts of the four pillars of plastic surgery - reconstructive surgery, aesthetic surgery, hand surgery and burn surgery - (advisory board) are in charge of the journal. Being a bilingual journal with most papers published in English and an additional abstract in German, the journal is of interest to an international audience. In addition, abstract collections of annual meetings of the DGPRÄC and the DGV are published in German Medical Science thus being available permanently to all who are interested.

Review Process
Submitting a manuscript to GMS GPRAS starts a peer review process. In the course of this process the scientific quality and the relevance for Plastic Surgery are being evaluated. For this, GMS GPRAS selects two reviewers who remain anonymous towards the author, but also towards each other. Following evaluation and a possible revision by the author, the editor in chief decides the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript.
