The purpose of the study is to assess the safety and efficacy of Avastin in the treatment of CNV after eye contusion.

Methods: Clinical study of 3 eyes (3 patients) with CNV after eye contusion. CNV formation happened in a month after trauma. Contusion trauma took place 3-6 months ago. All patients were men at the age of 30-40 years. Visual acuity was between 20/200 and 20/100. Intravitreous Avastin 0.2 mg was administered every 6 weeks (2 injections). Mean follow-up after last injection 6 months. OCT scans were made before and after intravitreal injection of Avastin. Fundus examination and OCT discovered the postcontusion central break of uvea.

Results: Visual acuity impoved after fist injection in all cases 20/40. After second injection there were improvement in 2 patients 20/32-and 1 patient 20/25. Macular edema decreased in all cases from 564 µm to about 230 µm, subretinal blood resolved and CNV was scarring in all cases.

Conclusions: Avastin is well tolerated and efficacious in the treatment of CNV in case of central break of uvea after contusion.
