Background

1.
The heterogeneity of elderly people in partial or permanent nursing care is coupled with a corresponding heterogeneity of nursing home settings. This makes it difficult to offer individual and long-term exercise programs.
2.
The number of the over eighty-year old persons will experience a substantial increase in the next years. For example, the 80+ group in Germany is the age group with the highest above average growth. The prognosis for the number of the 100+ occupies a rise from 7.200 in the year 2000 to 44.200 in the year 2025.

Concept

The project "Fit for 100" shall promote mobility and strength through a training program for high aged humans. The goals thereby are maintaining and/or regaining of muscle power, everyday life ability and independence, as well as an improvement of the quality of life and the well-being.

Contents of the workshop

Within the Workshop the model project training program will be presented in excerpts as alternative movement offer for ambulatory, part-stationary and stationary nursing care institutions. The advantages of the exercise program will be compiled and the participants receive suggestions for the organization of their own movement offers for older humans. The possibilities of the program in fall prevention will be shown.

The Workshop will be held in German language, but can be supplemented with English comments.
