Measurement of physical performance is a major issue in fall prevention related to assessment of risk factors. Here, gait analysis is becoming more and more important. Against the background that fall prevention should be linked to improvements of physical functioning, it is interesting to validly measure physical activity of persons at risk. In this context, physical activity has to be seen in relation to falls. As there is no way of reporting physical activity and falls accurately in frail elderly persons, technical devices are needed.
