Introduction: To understand hearing characteristics of healthy people from the Qinghai Plateau, Qinling Mountain and Nanjing City, and to explore the influence of environment, customs and personal habits on the hearing function, we try to reveal the causes of hearing injure and provide prevention guidance for the noise-induced hearing loss.
Methods: A random research was employed. The noise-exposed history was inspected. Normal adult people's auditory threshold was tested and compared in groups.
Results: People from Qinghai Plateau and Qinling Mountain were exposed to noise from firecracker at least one time, but people from Nanjing were not. People's auditory threshold incresed by age, especially from high frequencies. The auditory threshold of people from Nanjing was lower than that of Qinghai Plateau and Qinling Mountain, and the gap become bigger when age increased.
Conclusions: The whole frequency threshold test would reveal early hearing injure in high frequencies. Noise from firecracker maybe cause the hearing injure in Qinghai Plateau and Qinling Mountain, and keeping distance from firecrackers will be usefully to avoid noise-induced hearing loss.
