The proposed by us combined transmastoid endocanalicular surgical approach for CI electrode installation was used in 45 patients at different age.

The surgical technique starts with skin dissection of the posterior wall of the auricular canal till ch. tympani is exposed. Then a part of the upper posterior bone wall is opened and the long process of incus is exposed.

Afterwards we use the transmastoid approach to create a canal on the posterior wall in the direction of the long process of incus. Cochleostomy is made through the auditory canal.
