Introduction: The time for diagnostic of hearing disorders in children is still much to late. So there is a call for a generally newborn hearing screening in Germany. Because of the engagement of paedaudiologists in Sachsen-Anhalt nearly all delivery institutions have the possibility to screen the newborn children. Nevertheless hearing disorders don’t get an rehabilitation or therapy until the age of 6 month. So here is a necessity for a sufficient tracking and confirmation diagnostic.

Methods: A model for the tracking in S/A will represent here. The results of hearing screening and follpw-up examination will register in the same system of documentation like the metabolic disorders. The condition for realisation of tracking is a perfect teaching of nurseries in the delivery institutions at first. In addition the cooperation with ENT-colleaques which will do the follow-up examinations is very important. The project was started in the hospitals of Magdeburg and Halle with support of the paedaudiological departments of the universities. The model was reliable and so it will extend of all the delivery institutions in Sachsen-Anhalt until the end of the year.

Results: In the time from 01.08.06 – 31.12.06 registered 83 children with pathological results, or without results in the hearing screening. In the second examination, which also was done by OAE, 20 children had a normal hearing, 8 children had a hearing disorder ( 5 SMT, 3 sensorineural hearing disorder). In 54 cases there was’nt registered a result of second examination, because of the short time to first screening.
