Background: The web-based guideline evaluation and reporting system using AGREE II (http://www.guideline.or.kr) has been developed by steering committee for clinical practice guideline and partnership organization in Korea.

Objective: To maximize the applicability of AGREE II and minimize disagreement among 4 evaluators enabling web-based communication and adjustment

Method: To develop web-based guideline evaluation and reporting system, 5-staged process is executed. First, the members of steering committee for CPGs in KAMS are involved for planning the system. Second, there are 3 professional workshops to review the contents and structure. Third, web design is done by M2COMM, Inc. Forth, 3 CPGs are evaluated using developing web evaluation system. After pre-test is done, there is edit process by comments of internal review panels. Fifth, reporting system is developed using database of evaluation results.

Result: Web-based guideline evaluation and reporting system using AGREE II insisted on consecutive 3 steps; inquiry, evaluation, and report. There were 2 stages evaluation by 4 evaluators. After adjusting disagreement among evaluators, the standardized 6 domain scores is generated automatically based on the database of evaluation scores and reported with 6 domain scores graph.

Conclusion: Web-based development and dissemination of the nationwide guideline evaluation system can be positively associated with the quality of guidelines.

Implications for guideline developers/users: Web-based guideline evaluation and reporting system using AGREE II is a very easy and useful e-tool not only to evaluate CPGs but also to standardize and clarify the evaluation process.
