Objective
Modern cataract surgery is a refractive procedure, where one basically can achieve the targeted postoperative refraction.
Methods
To achieve this goal, according to the patients whises, biometry, mathematical calculation of IOL-power and astigmatismus management are important factors.
Results
The individual choice of incision (on axis, lenght, shape and location) reduces preoperative existing astigmatism. biometry with personalised data and formulas of the 3. generation (Haigis) are important factors to achieve the targeted refraction.
Conclusions
Patient satisfaction postoperatively depends on the refractive result. With our current operative and technical possibilities we are able to achieve this with high precision.
