Objectives: The Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has an anti-inflammatory action, and presence of chondrogenic factors. The aim of this study was to describe the effect of platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection in chronic synovitis of the joints in PWH.

Methods: Nineteen patients with 28 joints were treated between December 2014 - 2015. Eighteen were Haemophilia type A (17 severe, 1 mild) and 1 type B severe. Mean age was 26 years old. Chronic synovitis were presented in 2 (7,1%) ankles, 7 (25%) elbows and 19 (67,9%) knees joints. Patients were evaluated in every target joint: range of motion (ROM), perimeter, Haemophilia Joint Health Score (HJHS), number of bleedings in the last 30 days, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS); before, three and six months after treatment.

Results and Conclusion: A mean volume of 4 ml of PRP were injected into the joint. The HJHS pre and post treatment was statistical significant (p<0.001). Decrease of joint bleeding episodes was statistically significant (p<0.001). All patients reported pain relief and has been found statistically significant for the VAS-scores (p<0.001). The whole joint perimeter measures evidence a statistically significant difference (p<0.001). No complications were shown in none of the patients, in blood collection or PRP injection.
